You have chosen SSI – an association that is one of the largest in the world and has clearly positioned itself in recent years with a well thought-out system and strong digital tools.<\/p>\n

SSI was one of the first training associations to consistently focus on digital content<\/strong> – and this head start is paying off. The system is clearly structured, the platform works reliably and you have exactly the tools you need as an instructor. <\/p>\n

A big advantage: as an active diving professional, SSI gives you access to all the courses you are allowed to teach<\/strong> – and often even more. So you can prepare yourself at any time, even for special courses that you would like to do later. The materials are available in many languages and can be used immediately. <\/p>\n

The price structure also speaks for itself: SSI rewards commitment.<\/strong> Those who regularly give courses not only remain active, but also benefit financially. The system is structured in such a way that active work pays off – without any hidden costs or artificial barriers. <\/p>\n

The SSI training system<\/h2>\n

Being a diving instructor means more than just training students in and on the water. A good diving instructor needs so much more: organization, administration, sales, equipment maintenance, compressor, social media – and more. Of course, not everyone has to master everything to perfection, but just as divers have different interests and choose very different specialty profiles, you as a diving instructor want to be able to do more than just the basics and contribute your special skills in your center.
The basis for this is always the SSI training system, and everyone really needs to understand the basics of it. This is your working material, your tool, you have to master it. This part is covered in great detail in your SSI ITC Manual, so we will limit ourselves here to a few additional tips, some material for practice and some further discussions. <\/p>\n

Preparation for the exam<\/strong><\/p>\n

To prepare for the “SSI Educational System”<\/strong> exam section, an interactive whiteboard is available to you on Mural. It helps you to understand the structure and philosophy of SSI – and visually connects content with your personal learning style.
In addition, we have a quiz on the standards that helps you to quickly and confidently find your way around the standards. You don’t have to know them by heart, but you should be able to find answers to any questions in the standards very quickly! <\/p>\n

    Being a diving instructor – between dream job and reality<\/h3>\n

    You are ready. Now the part where the idea becomes a profession begins. And that’s great. But: it’s worth taking an honest look at what it means to be a diving professional. <\/p>\n

    Because being a diving instructor is not just “diving and vacation”. It’s a real profession – with real demands. <\/p>\n

      Trainer and educator<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Safety manager under water<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Contact for people with anxiety, euphoria, questions or misunderstandings<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Organizer, technology freak, sometimes cleaner, entertainer and much more<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      And yes – you also dive.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      But you dive differently. You dive to get others through their course safely and well. Sometimes you dive in difficult conditions. Sometimes without taking your own interests into account or without much enjoyment – it’s a working day. In return, you get something else: the glow in the eyes of someone who has just taken their first breaths underwater<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

      As excited as you are about the new job, as enthisiastic as you may be, it’s important to know what you’re getting yourself into:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • \n

        Pay is low in many countries.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Many bases live from voluntary or low-cost work.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        There are permanent, well-paid jobs – but they are rare.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Legal conditions (visas, work permits, insurance) are often complicated.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        The job is physically demanding and mentally challenging – especially during peak season.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        And then there’s the emotional part<\/strong>: you sell experiences. You are part of a special moment in the lives of others. And that’s wonderful – but also challenging. Sometimes work feels like animation. Sometimes it’s too much. Sometimes you forget to enjoy time in the water yourself. <\/p>\n

        And yet: There is hardly anything comparable.<\/strong>
        You work in special places, get to know special people\u2014and if you are good at what you do, you can really make a difference. Inspire people. Pave the way. Change lives. Including your own.<\/p>\n

        Being a diving instructor is not an easy job. But it is an honest, challenging and real one – and sometimes simply the best in the world. <\/strong><\/p>\n
