Description
Who knows the story about lionfish taking over in some regions of the world because they don’t actually belong there and have no natural predators?
Invasive species are one of the most current and important topics in (marine) ecology. Such invaders can transform entire habitats in a very short time, sometimes with catastrophic consequences for the environment, the economy, and not least for (diving) humans. What are these invasive organisms and where do they come from? What role do humans play in their spread? And can we fight or manage these invasions? In the SSI course “Invasive Species Management”, we present and discuss these questions using some current examples. Of course, the focus is especially on the Canary Islands.
In our SSI Invasive Species Management course, you’ll get:
- Our webinar on the topic
- Exam and certification included
- a competent contact person for all questions
At the moment, there is no dedicated SSI material for this course.
To take the course, you need an SSI account. If you don’t have one yet, you can sign up here: SSI Registration – Punkfish Diving
After your order, we’ll activate the course within the next few hours. You work through it and get in touch if you have any questions. At the end, you’ll need to take the exam online. Once you’ve passed, you’ll receive your certification from us.
The course is available either individually or as a Marine Ecology package. It is an online-only course and can be certified without dives.
