SSI PRO TRAINING

SSI Pro courses at the Punkfish Academy

On the way to becoming a diving pro: theory online, more time in the water

Of course, the most important thing in pro training, whether as a divemaster, assistant instructor, instructor or even assistant instructor trainer, is time in the water. You need to be able to demonstrate and teach skills and guide beginners through their first steps – that’s why you need to be in the water.
However, you can prepare yourself online to ensure you have enough time to dive at the location where you complete your practical training. And what the Punkfish Academy offers over and above the SSI material is simply good.

We regularly offer webinars covering all kinds of diving topics. There are recordings of these, you can watch them live – and we also rely on them for instructor training. At least twice a year, there are blocks on various pro topics. Of course, you still have the recordings of previous events and a direct contact person at our company.

If you’re still thinking about where you want to do the ITC at the end, just do the theory with us and then look around! You can simply take the kit you buy here with you.

The Punkfish ITC

Our ITCs are always a bit of a punk: different people choose different paths on their way to becoming a Pro. Some come to do the ITC and the exam in 14 days, others have been working with us for a while and are finally taking the plunge, some have done the AI in another center, there may be a crossover, maybe someone is doing the Assistant Instructor Trainer – and there are many paths in between.
You can do the ITC with us “normally” in a 2-week course. We don’t guarantee that you’ll pass – nobody can! – but we do guarantee that you will be really well prepared.

“If Vero says you’ll pass, then you will!” – It’s not always easy, but one thing is clear: the ITC is much more demanding than the exam. The point here is that you are allowed to go into the water with beginners afterwards, that you have the responsibility for it – and we want you to be up to it. That’s exactly what the exam is about. It really won’t cause you any problems.

What is different with us:

We teach neutrally tared!
Our students still have to learn this – but they see all the skills we show them in neutral buoyancy. Floating. A diver does not kneel, let alone a diving instructor.

It’s about imparting knowledge, not just about passing a microteaching course – we expect you to know a lot, to keep learning and to work with us on how best to impart your knowledge. If you want to learn even more – take a look around, there are plenty of offers here.

Specialty Instructor Training

If you are already an SSI Pro, you can qualify for almost all specialties online. As long as no really new skills are required, no training in the water is necessary – of course you should have a certain amount of experience to be able to teach a course well.
In an online seminar we talk about how you want to set up this course and share a few tips and tricks, and you can already train other interesting specialties.

To take part, you need the SSI Digital Instructor Kit and the seminar with an instructor trainer.
If training in the water is necessary, we can meet on La Palma, in Germany or even on safari and complete this – or you can have the practice confirmed at another SSI base.
